Don’t Pray with Worry

Updated: Jun 10

Insights of Healer. Arun CJ presented on June-4-2025 at the Divine Meditation Session

The main purpose of spiritual practice is to cleanse our minds — to remove negative thoughts and feelings and bring out the good qualities already within us. When we live with these good qualities, we live a peaceful and meaningful life. But often, our minds still hold hidden negative traits. One of the most common and harmful among them is worry.

Worry may seem small, but it has a strong and subtle effect. It can quietly live in our minds without us even noticing. Just like a little dust settles without noise, worry builds up over time and disturbs our peace. That’s why we need to be mindful and sincere in our spiritual journey — to keep our minds free from such disturbances. Removing worry is not a small task. It is one of the most important goals in spiritual life.

We usually start to worry when things don’t go as we hoped or when we fear the future might not be in our favor. But if you think about it, worry doesn’t appear when we first desire something. At the beginning, we are hopeful and confident. We believe we can make it happen. But later, when we realize we might fail or when our efforts don’t bring results, we start to feel helpless — and that’s when worry begins.

This shows us something important: worry begins when we forget that we’re not in control of everything. In the beginning, we think we can achieve anything by ourselves. But that’s not true. We slowly begin to see our limitations — that we can’t do it all on our own. That realization should lead us to trust God, but instead, we often fall into fear and worry.

What we forget in those moments is this:

  • God is the one who placed those good desires in our hearts.

  • He knows what we truly need and when we need it.

  • He is the one who will fulfill those desires at the right time.

  • He gives us the strength to act.

  • And from the beginning, we have never had full control.

If we truly believed this, we wouldn’t worry at all. We would simply trust that God will take care of everything. But when we worry, it means we’ve stopped trusting Him. Worry shows that we’ve started relying only on ourselves and have lost faith in the One who truly helps us.

That is why praying with a worried heart doesn’t work. Worry and prayer do not go together. Worry comes from fear; prayer should come from faith. If we pray while filled with worry, our prayer lacks power and depth.

So, what should we do when we feel worried?

Instead of praying with worry, let’s first ask God for forgiveness — for not trusting Him enough. That act itself becomes the right kind of prayer. From that moment, our hearts begin to clear. Worry will start to fade, and true faith will grow.

We must remember: even our next breath is a gift. We are not alive because of our own power — we are being sustained by grace. The desires we feel, the path to fulfill them, and the strength to walk that path — all come from God. He is the one who took care of us yesterday, is holding us today, and will guide us tomorrow.

Even the things we lost or missed didn’t happen by accident. They happened for our good, even if we don’t understand it yet. God knows what’s best for us — better than we do.

So instead of living in fear, let’s place our lives fully in God’s hands. Let’s stop worrying about the outcomes and focus on doing our part with full attention and sincerity. That is the true spiritual path.

Let us trust deeply. Let us hold on to our hopes. Let us act with confidence. Faith — and actions rooted in faith — is the true energy of a fulfilled life. That’s what gives us peace. That’s what brings us closer to God.
